Collection: Uppada Silk Sarees

Uppada Silk Sarees, named after a village in Andhra Pradesh is a light-weight silk saree weaved in Jamdani looms. Jamdani, a Persian weaving technique was brought to Uppada from Bangladesh by Ghanshyam Sarode, a textile designer. These sarees are gaining popularity for their elegance, simplicity and light weight. The common motifs used are lotuses, peacocks, flowering vines, pheasant birds, parrots and mainas. The zari used is silver or gold dipped in silver. It takes two weavers 8 hours a day for 10-60 days to weave one silk saree.
